Look To Montgomery’s For Individualized Design – Montgomery’s
If redecorating or renovating your home is your goal in 2025, Montgomery’s is the complete furnishing and design center where you can transform your home. Their exceptional products and customer service can streamline and simplify any home project.
Montgomery’s is a family-owned business that provides personalized design services and quality products for 137 years. Montgomery’s stores are located in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Watertown and Madison.
Montgomery’s goal is to save customers time and reduce stress in any home or commercial design project.
“We have all the tools needed to help a new homeowner or a remodel project,” said Paula Kruetzfeldt, an interior designer at Montgomery’s. “Everything we need to help clients with their lighting, wall coverings, paint colors, window treatments, furniture is right here.”
Paula brings 25 years of experience as an interior designer, including six years at Montgomery’s, to every design project. She describes her job as interior project management — whether she’s helping a client select a couch, redecorate a room, or she’s consulting with builders and contractors on new construction from framing to finish.
Each project begins by asking customers about their wants, needs, lifestyle, and their design ideas. Montgomery’s staff will make recommendations based on budget and preferences to ensure their customers have the furniture, lighting, flooring or window treatments they want, plus design support.
“What Montgomery’s does best is making every customer feel special and listening to what they need,” Paula adds. “It is not a cookie-cutter design. It is individualized design per client.”
“Everything is right here. We simplify the process as to not overwhelm the customer,” Paula explains.
Complimentary “house call” design consultations are part of the process.
“We want customers to have the full experience,” Paula states. “If clients come in needing a certain piece (of furniture or decor) or they’re saying ‘I want to remodel my house,’ or ‘I want to change something in my living room,’ we offer complimentary design services to help people make good, cost-effective decisions.”
Every staff member is knowledgeable about the products Montgomery’s carries. Weekly trainings educate the staff about furnishings, décor and products in each store.
“We have specialists in each department: flooring, lighting, window treatments, and mattresses. Our staff is trained on something every week — a brand of flooring, or technology in lighting, or new furniture pieces that recently hit the floor,” Paula shares.
Montgomery’s staff also travels to furniture and home décor markets around the United States twice each year to learn about new products and the latest design trends.
“We have long-standing relationships with manufacturers. They tell us what’s on trend in the Midwest,” Paula adds. “We carry brands that are tried and true, and have been around forever.”
Montgomery’s began in 1888 as a furniture store and still prides itself on selling a wide variety of quality, well-priced furnishings for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, home offices and outdoor living spaces.
“We have design styles for every taste and price points that fit any budget,” states Paula. “We can help home owners maximize their space while also creating an inviting environment you can thrive in and enjoy.”
“We’re constantly changing products to accommodate our customers,” adds Paula. “We’re always willing to get what customers need or want.”
Customers who purchase beds from Montgomery’s can find excellent mattresses there, as well, from major name brands and private labels.
“Our mattress department has specialists who are probably the most knowledgeable in the industry to help customers select the right mattress. They can tell you exactly what you need. We have a sleep technology support report equipped with pressure mapping to your perfect comfort level and mattress for you. It’s all about knowing the products we are selling,” Paula explains.
When searching for home décor and accessories, customers are guaranteed to find new items every time they walk into a Montgomery’s store, Paula adds.
“We have so much décor. I can look at a piece of art and the next day, it’s gone,” Paula shares. “I tell customers if you really think you want something, you better take it today.
We’re constantly buying products for home décor. We have modern, traditional, transitional artwork, vases, plants, florals, and sculptures. Every kind of décor you can imagine, we have something that will work.”
Each of Montgomery’s four store locations has flooring and lighting divisions that sell products at price points to fit any customer’s budget.
Montgomery’s lighting divisions display chandeliers and fixtures in roomscapes to help customers better visualize how the lighting might look in their own home or office.
“Instead of trying to (make a choice) between 400 lights displayed so high you can’t see it, we have the ability to showcase our products in more of a customer-friendly aspect,” Paula says.
Montgomery’s flooring divisions provide samples of wood flooring, carpet, tile and more that customers can borrow so they can see firsthand how the flooring will look in their homes. Design consultants will accompany customers, if desired, to make recommendations about flooring.
Window treatments complete any room and Montgomery’s has an exceptional selection to choose from. We are an official Hunter Douglas vendor with a full gallery of home and commercial shades at varying price points. One of the most unique services offered is a team of three full-time seamstresses who create custom window treatments and more.
“Our designers will design a bedding ensemble or drapery treatment and our seamstresses will make it into these beautiful works of art, and our team will do the installation,” Paula said. “If we can design it, the seamstresses can sew it. It’s amazing.”
Montgomery’s genuinely enjoys helping customers achieve the stylish homes or businesses they imagine.
“We know what works, and helping clients figure that out is fun. We want clients’ rooms to look beautiful just like they do,” Paula notes.
