Every house Dobesh Construction builds is designed and hand-crafted with care. Owners Bryan and Julie Dobesh strive for exceptional quality as they build homes their clients will love for years to come. Based in the Sioux Falls area, Dobesh Construction is a smaller, versatile residential and commercial construction company.
“We’re kind of an all-facets type of builder,” said Bryan, who has a degree in architectural engineering and 30 years of experience in construction and commercial work.
Dobesh Construction’s niche is designing and building homes in the $400,000 to $1 million-plus price range for clients who value quality, energy efficiency and style. “I’d say our biggest client is … going to be the second-time homebuyer on up to the custom home buyer who really wants to step up to the next level,” Bryan said. “It’s the person who kind of knows what they want.”
“I do all custom homes. I meet with my clients and go through their design ideas to create their home based on their wants, needs and desires,” he said. “As a general contractor, we do it all from coordinating to construction.” Bryan finds great satisfaction in being involved in the home-building process, from the beginning to the moment clients step inside their completed home. “I love the fact that I get to design something and actually built it into a completed project. That’s what I like to do – take it from start to finish and see the fruits of my labor come together,” he said.
Dobesh Construction draws inspiration for its home designs not only from clients but from South Dakota’s natural beauty and interior design trends.
“We construct and design a wide variety of customized homes ranging from traditional, modern, modern farmhouse and many others,” said Bryan. “Whatever style the customer chooses, we deliver. We cater to what the customer is envisioning.” The “barndominium” trend has impacted the construction industry in recent years and it’s changing the way people live and spend their leisure time. More homeowners want “barndeominium” — living spaces that morph with workshops or bigger garages.
Bryan said Dobesh Construction has experience building “barndominiums” and pole buildings on acreages outside city limits, where homeowners have the space for their combined dream house and workshop or oversized garage. “It’s for the family who really wants to have a massive shop as well as their dream home. These families enjoy spending time in their garage, whether it’s working on cars or having family gatherings. Currently, I am working on some acreage properties with new homes and pole barns for the family horses,” Bryan said.
In every home Dobesh Construction designs and builds, the details and distinctive fixtures, materials and finishes distinguish their work from other builders, Bryan said.
“We really pride ourselves on being high-quality finish. We want our finishes to really shine,” he said. “Julie does a lot of the design work with clients and the picking of finishes. She really likes to be creative and be involved in the entire build process. … She’s very good with following the trends and keeping her eye on what is needed for a goodlooking home.”
Dobesh Construction homes are highly energy efficient, with geothermal heating and cooling systems and structured insulated panels (SIP) panels produced by EPS Structures. Homes built with solid foam-and-plywood SIP panels are “super strong and efficient,” Bryan said. “It’s basically a home that’s even more structurally sound than a traditional stick frame.” Additionally, Dobesh Construction builds commercial projects in the Sioux Falls area, such as strip malls, gas stations, restaurants and build-outs in commercial spaces.
