BH Construction and Homes – Cozy Modern Respite

At 420 East Mary Moore Drive you find all chance and zero mistakes. Far from ordinary, this property is the ultimate epitome of a dream home. The ability to make such a house modern but cozy, sleek but homey, and execute it in a way that is truly flawless is like a chimera, something that is highly sought after, but often impossible to find; however, BH Construction and Homes did exactly this with this highly custom, truly dazzling residence located in the quiet but hip suburb of Tea.

A modern masterpiece, this sprawling ranch-style home offers so much to its owners. The exterior showcases a mixture of materials and inlets that keep the eye wandering and wondering, with stucco, stained cedar, stone and landscaping that could be straight out of Architectural Digest. This home sits on a body of water, amplifying the appeal of staying in, as well as hosting friends and family.

Dripping in detail inside, the foyer sets the stage for the upcoming show. With built-in shelving for displaying decor, the entryway gives views of the open-concept living area, which features incredible feelings of joy thanks to 14’ ceilings, windows galore and beam work. The space features beautiful and unique hardwood flooring, tying it all together with the rest of the home. The kitchen is truly show-stopping with black matte cabinets placed against creamy white marbled quartz that smartly is the backsplash and draping down the island as a waterfall. Complimenting this contrasting color scheme are the matte black Cafe appliances and an amazing brass light fixture over the island. Not to be forgotten is the large, hidden pantry which offers space to store and keep meal planning organized.

Whether in the kitchen or in the living room, the views of this space are truly breathtaking. The living room features built-in cabinetry flanking the gas fireplace that stretches to the skies, with sconce lighting above and shelving with built-in lighting for highlighting decor. Large accordion doors provide a picturesque view of the covered patio which extends over to the owner’s suite, backyard and water out back. Off the living room is an office space that opens with a smart glass door, and features built-in desk space with storage, a truly amazing space to work and study. Going past the office and kitchen space, you find the owner’s wing, which the home was designed around to ensure those living here have maximum ease of use of their home. The garage access and laundry are here, with a powder room, all of which are dressed to the nines, with epoxy floors in the 4-car garage and stupendous finishes in the powder and laundry area. Cleverly, the laundry area has a secret door to the primary closet, making laundry and package delivery into this space easy as a 1, 2, 3.

The primary ensuite itself is truly a place of respite. Views of the water by way of large patio doors, intricate wood trim design for the bed wall with task sconce lighting, and of course the jaw-dropping bathroom, this sanctuary is fit for both king and queen. The primary bathroom is stunning, with a large quartz vanity and sconce lighting on the mirrors. A walk-in shower was crafted with two-toned tile, including a rich, dark herringbone-laid tile against white marble that matches the bathroom floor and brass fixtures.

Opposite the owner’s wing are two additional suite-style bedroom spaces making up three additional bedrooms and two more handsome bathrooms, all of which are as well thought out as the rest of the home. To the back of the house is a large bedroom, with shiplap walls, plush carpet and its own bathroom whose finishes match the kitchen islands quartz and cabinet color, plus a vertically stacked subway tile surrounding the tub/shower. There is also a Jack and Jill suite, with a bathroom whose motif is chicly black and white, with striking black marbled quartz, double sinks and remarkably interesting sconce lighting. These bedrooms all have eye-catching light fixtures as well as creamy carpet with a muted striped pattern, adding visual interest for those who dwell here.

Danielle Hoyer, representative for BH Construction and Homes, says their favorite part of this project was “making the most of the outside view with the large windows and patio doors,” and they kept “the goal of a warm, modern feel” in mind when designing the home.
